Hitless Rules for Zelda: Breath of the Wild

General Rules
  • Hits from player triggered traps count, environmental damage does not.
  • While fall damage does not count, a death from falling will count.
  • The horse getting startled by enemies and dismounting you counts as a hit. Getting dismounted by using all stamina also counts.
  • Blocking an enemy attack with a shield counts as a hit, but a perfect parry/deflect does not. Daruk’s protection is not allowed.
  • The use of bows is fine.
  • Major glitches are not allowed: early Master Sword, BTBs (Bullet-Time Bounces), clipping walls or floors, infinite guardian parts…
  • Sequence breaking events are not allowed. Minor glitches are allowed: whistle sprinting, throwing sprinting, animation cancel…
  • Fall damage cancellation using glitches is not allowed.
  • Loading a save is only permitted while doing runs in various sessions. In this case, at the end of a session you must save in a safe spot (cities, stables…), show your inventory and quit the game. At the start of the next session, you must load that save and show your inventory (have to match with the inventory at the end of the previous session).
  • Killing bosses from outside of the arena is forbidden.
In “[Weapon] Only” runs, damage is only to be dealt with the chosen weapon and runes of the sheikah slate. Damage done by any mount is also allowed. Bows are fine to use as tools.
Specific Rules for Zelda BOTW
  • Warping is not allowed if an enemy has aggro on Link, to avoid fall death before having the paraglide or to avoid drowning, voiding or falling in lava.
  • Majora’s Mask is not allowed.
  • Amiibos are not allowed.
  • Daruk’s protection and Mipha’s healing are not allowed.
Switch and Wii U Rules:
  • Before or after finishing a run or a session, you must show the Switch or Wii U menu.
  • It is totally prohibited to use hacked versions of the consoles (Homebrew). We are working on finding a way to check that easily.
Emulator Rules:
  • The only emulator that is allowed is CEMU.
  • The Graphic Packs window must be shown at the beginning and end of each run (or of each game session if the run is divided in several ones).
  • Mods that remove the HUD of the game are not allowed.
  • Mods that show hidden data of the game are not allowed.
  • Mods that modify the behavior of the game (new weapons, new combos, changes in hitboxes, environment, weather, cooking, etc.) are not allowed.
  • Visual mods that don’t imply none of the previous points are allowed.

HUD Rules for Zelda: Breath of the Wild

To ensure a smooth verification process by our verifiers, we recommend not covering the following HUD elements. This is particularly important to help the verifier when there is an ambiguous situation, especially during boss fights.

  • Hearts
  • Buff timer
  • In shops you need to keep clear top right of the HUD to see the Rupees
